Feb 2012 Cairo: Tear Gas Morning Haze

After a long weekend at Marina Wadi Dome, we returned to Cairo so that I could teach yoga classes.

I was astounded to see, and be affected by the tear gas that was used at night in Tahrir the last few days. My eyes, nose, and throat burned.

Our neighbourhood is less than half mile away from Tahrir Square, but usually the tear gas doesn't travel down to here. It seems like the entire area is affected this time by the fumes.

A friend told us they started a protest chant: "The people want the old tear gas." --- humour even in the worst of times.
